Where to write

General enquiries, corrections and sourcing questions: [email protected]. We answer in English and in Chinese, usually within three working days. If you are reporting an error, please include the oil's slug (it is the last part of the page URL) and the figure you believe is wrong.

Corrections we act on carry the gas-chromatography source and the batch number on the page itself, because a constituent percentage without a source is just an anecdote.

What we cannot answer

We cannot advise on your medication, your pregnancy, your child's skin, your pet's exposure, or a reaction you are having right now. Those are clinical questions. If you have spilled or ingested essential oil, or a child or animal has, contact your local poisons service or emergency number immediately — not this address.

We also do not accept guest posts, sponsored monographs, link insertions or brand placements. The answer is no regardless of the offer, so it saves everyone time to skip the pitch.

What we do want

Pointers to published constituent data for oils we have not covered, especially chemotype-resolved data. Vendor-issued certificates of analysis for named cultivars are useful too. Regional naming confusion — where the same vernacular name is used for two different species in two different markets — is one of the most valuable things a reader can send us, and it usually ends up as a correction on both pages.
